DC FanDome: The Batman NewMain Trailer!

The new, second trailer for The Batman has been released during DC’s 2021 FanDome event. The trailer offers a great taste of what this dark, noir style take on the legacy of the Batman will be like.

Thought the trailer was amazing and I’m excited to see this movie more than ever now. “The Batman,” with director Matt Reeves (the “Planet of the Apes” films) at the helm and with Robert Pattinson (“Tenet,” “The Lighthouse,” “Good Time”) starring as Gotham City’s vigilante detective, Batman, and billionaire Bruce Wayne looks set to be a box-office smash.
Also in the star-studded ensemble as Gotham’s famous and infamous cast of characters are Zoë Kravitz (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” “Mad Max: Fury Road”) as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano (“Love & Mercy,” “12 Years a Slave”) as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright (the “Hunger Games” films) as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro (the “Transformers” films) as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard (“The Magnificent Seven,” “Black Mass”) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Barry Keoghan (“Dunkirk”) as Officer Stanley Merkel; Jayme Lawson (“Farewell Amor”) as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis (the “Planet of the Apes” films, “Black Panther”) as Alfred; and Colin Farrell (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “Dumbo”) as Oswald Cobblepot.

“The Batman” is set to open in theaters 4th March 2022.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this Batman turns out. What Christopher Nolan and his team did with the Batman trilogy was spectacular and, for me, set a pretty high standard for Batman movies. For the longest time, my favorites were Tim Burton’s first two Batman films from the late 80s, early 90s but Nolan’s work superseded them in my book. Christian Bale did a great job of drawing the audience into the Batman character, which is difficult to do because the villains are so well done that they tend to take the spotlight away from Batman. I’m curious to see how well Robert Pattinson plays the title character of the new Batman film. He did a good job in Tenet, so much so that I forgot that he was in the Twilight films. LOL
I was so impressed with the new trailer for The Batman that debuted at the FanDome event. I really like the dark, noir-like vibe the film seems to have, and I think Paterson has the makings of one of the most intense portrayals of Batman / Bruce Wayne that we’ve ever seen. There seems a great mix of villains as well, and refreshingly they don’t seem to overshadow the Dark Knight either – which has sometimes been the case in previous movies. Tim Burton’s Batman films are still me favourite, as I love the gothic tone of those, movies, but I thought Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy was brilliant as well. One thing’s for sure, with this new trailer the hype and expectation for The Batman will go through the roof now. Can’t wait to see this film!
I’m also curious to see this new Batman. I thought Christian Bale was really good in the role, but Ben Affleck wasn’t a good fit. From the looks of the trailer, Robert Pattinson looks promising.
I’m really excited to see how The Batman turns out as well. I enjoyed Christian Bale’s portrayal in Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy as well. Ben Affleck had potential, he was the best thing about BvS, and I still think its a shame he never got a proper solo outing as Batman. That said, I still really like Michale Keaton’s Batman from the Tim Burton films, I love the Gothic tone of those movies. Robert Paterson certainly seems very promising in the role of Batman / Bruce Wayne, and I look forward to seeing the film when its released next year.
Is this going to be another “origin” story or something a bit more original?
I think it will be a kind of take on the origin story, with a hint of Batman Year One and the noir-like Batman long Halloween perhaps? Paterson sure looks like he’s given an intense portrayal of the Dark Knight, and I really like the dark, noir style look of the film. Fingers crossed it can live up to all the hype.
I don’t mind if we get a Year One style of story. I’m just sick of Origins. Everybody knows how Batman came to be, so move on already.
I expect the origin will be touched on, but I think the film is centred more on Batman’s early time as a crime fighter. Fingers crossed it can live up to its potential and all the hype.
I’m really liking the look of this from the trailer – I almost feel it might be as gritty as the original Batman series of comics. But I have to say that ending refrain of music sounds ever so much like Darth Vader’s theme just with a few notes out of sequence.
I like that they seem to have taken a darker, grittier tone with this new Batman film. Yeah, now that you mention it, that music did sound like Vader’s theme a bit. Well, Dark Lord or Dark Knight, it certainly makes you sit up and take notice.
Whoa – look at this cast!
I know, its a great cast, and the trailer looked amazing as well. I like the dark noir-like tone it seems to have. Can’t wait to see The Batman!
I still get the chills watching the first trailer, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Love everything so far from the casting to the graphics, the gothic vibe, the music, the intensity, the Bat costume, the Bat car… absolutely can’t wait to see it!
This trailer totally blew me away! The Batman looks so good, a really dark and powerful vibe, and the costume and Batmobile look amazing. Will be counting the days until I can see this one!
Same here. It looks like it’s going to be such an amazing movie!
Looks great! Can’t wait!
I thought this new trailer for The Batman was brilliant. Cant wait to see this film either, its gonna be awesome!
Lots of action! Lots of villains! Woohoo! Can’t wait!
I thought the trailer was brilliant. The Batman is bound to be a sure fire hit with all that explosive action, dark tone, and great villains.
This looks like a film version of Batman: Year One. That could be a very good thing, and the trailer really sells the movie.
Yeah, there’s a great Year One vibe to the look and tone of The Batman isn’t there? Any doubts I may have had have been quickly dispelled by this trailer. The Batman looks awesome, can’t wait to it!
It’s insane how unrecognisable Colin Farrell is in this. Really excited for this new take… while still holding out hope for a Batman Beyond movie! 😉
Yeah, the villains all seem great and not just warped caricatures like some previous films. I really like the dark noir style look of The Batman as well, looks awesome. it’d be so cool to see a Batman Beyond movie one day, that concept is crying out for a big screen adaptation!
This is definitely looking really solid. We haven’t had a true horror esque Batman in the movies before from the villains pov and I’d like to see a lot of that. Batman did pick the costume originally to strike fear into criminals and this film is showing how effective that can be
Yeah, there’s a much darker noir like tone to this film. Looks like Paterson is going to give a really intense portrayal of Batman / Wayne. Good choice of villains for the film as well. Indeed, that was the original idea behind the Dark Knights costume, and if you look closely for this film the bat symbol on Batman’s chest is made up from the gun that murdered his parents. I’m excited to see this film when its released.
