The first trailer for THE MATRIX 4: RESURRECTIONS has been released. Keanu Reeves and Carry Ann Moss will be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, even though both characters died during the last Matrix movie. It would seem, the plot will centre on Neo once more, except he has returned to his regular life as Thomas Anderson and doesn’t remember the events of the previous movies. The cast also includes Priyanka Chopra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, Christina Ricci, and more in new, undisclosed roles.
I loved the original film, but wasn’t that keen on its sequels.. Fingers crossed Matrix 4: Resurrections will be a return to form. The highly anticipated film will arrive in theaters & on HBO Max on December 22nd. .

Trailer looks pretty cool!
I liked how it sort of reminded me of the original film, the choice between the red and blue pill. I think Matrix 4 looks really good from this first trailer.
Twitter seems to be quite twitterpated over it.
Yes, it think it has!
I’m optimistic and I don’t care what anyone says. The original Matrix is one of my all time faves. 😎
I’m keeping optimistic as well. The original Matrix is one of my favourite films as well. Hopefully Matrix 4 Resurrection will be just as good.
After hearing about the drop in quality of the sequels, I never made the effort to watch them. But the plot of this new movie sounds interesting, as Neo returns to regular life (but with long hair and beard) with no memory of the Matrix. The trailer looks promising, with the mental-bending happenings.
I loved the original Matrix movie but wasn’t very impressed with either of the sequels. I like the premise of Matrix Resurrection though as it will be closer in tone to the original.
Neo resurrects as John Wick!
LOL, yeah he does seem to be channeling the John Wick look there in the trailer a bit. I still have high hopes for Matrix Resurrection as it seems to have a similar vibe as the original film about it.
I’ll watch this once it streams but I’m not optimistic. The Wachouski’s destroyed the franchise with the 2 sequels and I have zero faith that they won’t do the same thing all over again with this soft-reboot.
I will go see Matrix Resurrection as I hope it will recapture the spectacle and tone of the first film. I agree, the sequel Reloads and Revolutions were extremely poor and I’m not a fan of them either. I loved the original movie so I’m remaining optimistic the balance can be restored with Matrix 4.
Hard to beat the original but I will have to see this one too.
I agree. The original Matrix is one of my favourite films. Its going to be tough to match that. I’ll certainly want to see Matrix 4 as well, the Matrix films always have such amazing effects and action.
If it comes anywhere close to the original I will be happy
Me too. The original Matrix was an incredible film. Fingers crossed Matrix Resurrection can recapture some of that magic again.
I really hope so.
It’s a good trailer. It’s been so long since the previous Matrix movie that I find it kind of hard to be optimistic, not to mention it’s been a long time since the Wachowskis have made a good movie. I know Jupiter Rising suffered some of the same problems as the Matrix sequels – too much story and plot for one movie’s own good. But if they actually try to keep this one simple, it’s got potential. that and their Sense8 Netflix series was fairly well received.
I agree. Matrix Resurrections has a lot of expeditions to live up to but I think if they take a back to basics approach and not get as convoluted as the last two sequels it could well turn out ok. I wasn’t that keen on Jupiter Rising but I did like the Sense8 series.
I totally agree with you on The Matrix sequels. The first movie was so different and so profound that it really didn’t need anything more. What probably happened is that it made much more money than they figured it would and became one of the most talked-about movies of its time. But the second and third movies just fell flat to me. It definitely wasn’t like how The Two Towers and The Return of the King actually built on the first Lord of the Rings movie. In The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the second and third movies felt like improvements over the first.
All that being said, I’m up for seeing this new movie when it is released.
Yeah, the first Matrix film was groundbreaking on so many levels. The sequels didn’t work at all for me either. They just didn’t gel and the story was too convoluted, even the effects didn’t seem to match the original. Hopefully the new Matrix 4 will redress the balance and make for a truly worthy sequel.
This one’s promising! The trailer seems to be introducing several questions and new concepts that could spell an entirely different direction for Matrix. Hopefully, a satisfying one! I’m also excited to see Lana Wachowski working together with part of her writing team for Sense8, which was tremendous.
Yes, it was a strong trailer, and the Matrix 4 seems like it will bring a fresh perspective to the franchise. Also great to see Lana Wachowski and some of the Sense8 writing team working together as well. That was such a great show as well.
I’m with you – I liked the original Matrix, but am kinda meh about the sequels. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Matrix 4.
Yeah, the original Matrix film was brilliant, but the sequels left me cold. Hopefully Matrix 4 will redress the balance and recapture the same vibe and tone of the first film. This trailer certainly has me intrigued!
