I know I’m not the worlds biggest comic fan, but I’ve never heard of this character. If the MCU is going to start using 3rd tier characters for their movies, that doesn’t bode well.
Unless this guy is a comic superstar that I’m just not aware of (which is always possible)
Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 (December 1973), so he’s been around for a long time. He’s maybe not the most high-profile Marvel character, but I’ve often enjoyed reading his comic book adventures, As for the MCU, well they’ve a pretty good track record so far with brining less high-profile characters into the mix and making them work for a modern audience. I’d certainly give Shang Chi a chance, I think you may be pleasantly surprised.
1970’s eh? That is rather reassuring. I figured he was a jumped up 90’s side character.
And this is why I ask 😀
Yeah, Shang Chi has been around for quite a while. He’s often been on the fringes of the Marvel Universe and events ect.
Simu Liu is great on Kim’s Convenience. Looking forward to this.
It sure looks like an action packed film. Will be exciting to see what this next Phase of the MCU introduces.
Some truly surprising reveals in this latest trailer and I hope they make it all work in their big plan too. I’m mostly looking forward to the action scenes in this one. If they do it right, it can turn out to be one of the most exciting MCU movies yet!
I think Shang Chi will be a great addition to the MCU and this tailer certainly gives is a glimpse of just how action packed the movie will be. I’m excited to see the Abomination in the trailer as well, looks awesome!
I just noticed that’s Wong from Doctor Strange battling Abomination!
So cool to see the Abomination in this, he’s a classic Hulk villain I’ve always liked. Think its great how you never know quite who will turn up in a MCU movie.
Is that Incredible Hulk movie with Ed Norton part of the official MCU? Abomination was in that as I recall. I also remember how they set up a sequel with The Leader as supervillain, but I guess that got cancelled!
I believe it’s loosely part of MCU continuity. Ed Norton was really good in that film, and Hulk’s foe was the Abomination. He’s a great villain and its good to see the character returning. They did set up an Incredible Hulk sequel with the Leader didn’t they, but obviously that never came to pass. Hopefully we will see the Leader in a movie one day, perhaps if they every do another solo Hulk movie?
In the comics, weren’t The Mandarin’s ten rings taken from Fing Fang Foom? I wonder if we’ll see him? Looks awesome!
Yes, there is a bit of a connection between the Mandarin and Fing Fang Foom. As I recall the rings were discovered by the Mandarin in China’s “Valley of Spirits,” the Ten Rings of Power are actually product of a dragon-like race Axonn-Karr (or Makluans), which is the same or similar to King Fang Foom’s species, from the planet Maklu-IV. My memory is a little hazy on the details. It wouldn’t surprise me if maybe we see Fing Fang Foom in the Shang Chi movie – or at lease a mention or brief glimpse of him. The trailer sure looks good, should be an action packed movie! 🙂
Excellent trailer, I was really surprised to see Abomination at the end. If it’s true that most of the film is actually a tournament to gather the rings, this could end up being one of my favorite movies easy. I love a good tournament and the action looks top notch
I was really blown away by the Shang Chi trailer. It look so action packed and exciting. So cool to see the Abomination as well! I think we are in for a real treat with this movie!
Never heard of this character either.
Shang Chi isn’t perhaps the most well know character, but he does have a rich history of comic book adventures to draw on for the film. I’m sure he will be a fine addition to the MCU and its every increasing line up of superhero characters.
I’ve heard of Shang Chi but I’m not well versed in him. This movie looks fun and entertaining.
I think Shang Chi is really good character and will make a fine addition to the MCU as well. The trailer sure looks exciting. Looking forward to seeing this movie!

This movie looks fun and entertaining. I haven’t been interested in anything Marvel has done since Avengers Endgame. Hopefully this will be worth the ticket price.
Sure this will get things off to a great start for the next phase of the Marvel movies.
This looks fun. I’m just super excited to see new, diverse characters! I do love Spiderman and Captain America, but it’s about time we see some fresh faces. 🙂
It sure does, the film looks really exciting and action packed. Much as I love characters like Captain America, Spidey, and Hulk, its great to see some new – perhaps lesser known – heroes being introduced to the MCU.
