After all the speculation and rumours, the truth is finally out there! It was announced today that the Emmy Award-winning Pop Culture Phenomenon, The X-Files, from Chris Carter, is indeed returning as Six-Episode Event Series on FOX. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise Their Roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully
Thirteen years after the original series run, FOX has ordered the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES, a thrilling, six-episode event series which will be helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.
I’m a big fan of the X-Files and I’m really pleased that the series is retuning!
Production on THE X-FILES event series is set to commence in summer 2015.
I watched every episode. Loved it. It’s a tall order and a new generation. I’m thrilled David and Gillian are back!

I’m excited about it! Still hoping we might get to see Doggett and Reyes again since we didn’t in the 2008 movie. I was hoping this would happen so I am thrilled. I have a nonfiction book about Dana Scully planned to write, so I’ll postpone this writing project until we get closer to the release date of the new episodes. It won’t affect my structure but I want to be able to include this new material in my analysis. 🙂
I’ve been hoping that the X-Files would return as well, so pleased to hear the series is coming back. Great David and Gillian are reprising their roles, fingers crossed other cast members return as well. The new material from this series will certainly give us all plenty to talk about and enjoy. Will be great for your analysis too! Can’t wait for this series!
